Lutheran Military Veterans and Families Ministries, Inc.

On Sunday, October 8, at 11:30 a.m., St. John’s will be hosting a seminar that introduces civilian audiences to military culture, war-time experience, issues common to military households, as well as practical and proven ways to recognize and respond to the needs of veterans, military contractors and families who live in our midst. There is more information on this seminar and all of the ways LMVFM supports our military, contractors and their families on page 14 of this newsletter. Operation Christmas Child Donations

In November, Kids Club will pack 30 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. We are asking for donations to help fill the shoe boxes. In mid-October, please take a tag (or 2) located on the Christmas tree in the Narthex and donate the items listed on the tag. All donations are due back on November 5, 2023. On Sunday, November 12, 2023, we will be taking up a special offering to cover shipping expenses which is $9 per box. Thank you for your continued support of this project.

Lent and Easter

The Lenten Season will begin with Ash Wednesday on February 22.  We will have a special communion service begining at 7:00 p.m. with imposition of ashes.  During lent we will hold services each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.  Before service each Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.,  the MYFROG group and their parents will be serving a simple supper.  Holy Week will begin with Palm Sunday on April 2 and conclude with Easter, Sunday April 9.
